This year I had the opportunity to be a Campus Ambassador for the admissions Office at CMU. Campus Ambassadors guide campus tours for high school groups and families who are interested in attending Central Michigan after they finish high school. My tour consists of sharing my personal experience at CMU, explain how classes work, and provide them with as much information as possible so they feel Central Michigan University is a place they can call home.
I decided to apply for Campus Ambassadors because I did not want to go to CMU when I first started. I had my mind set on another school and really only came here for the scholarship money I received. After my first night at CMU, I know it was the place for me, and I want to encourage those students who are unsure or nervous about making a college decision. I know I had this problem, so I like the opportunity to share my story and encourage others to love CMU!
This program has helped me develop better communication skills as well as public speaking opportunities. I plan to major in Communication, so getting applicable experience is valuable time spent in addition to being rewarding. It has been great to see young adult get excited about college and CMU and be complimented on communication skills I pride myself in. I actively look for tours to give and really do enjoy the work I am doing.
